Overview

Get growing in the classroom! Designed for educational professionals who teach grades pre-K to 12, this curriculum features a different harvest each month—September through May! The GTS Planting Chart indicates window of opportunity time frames for planting, nurturing, and harvesting using three research-based methods: indoor seed starting under LEDs, raised beds with outdoor season extension, and controlled environment techniques using a hydroponic system. No watering or maintenance is required during winter, spring, or summer breaks! Students plan, plant, maintain, harvest, prepare, and taste fresh produce that they grow. The outdoor methods and time frames are based on climate conditions in the Midwest and may need to be adjusted in other areas. Curriculum integration with language arts, science, math, technology, and arts. Visit go.osu.edu/gts for more information and a self-directed course. Copyright 2024.
