Learning Lab Kits were originally created as a hands-on tool for teaching and quizzing youth about their animal projects for local fairs. The hands-on component of these curriculum sets provides information in a unique way to facilitate engaged learning. Now, these kits are utilized in various settings, such as: county fair and state fair project judging/skillathons; in classrooms and after-school learning programs; and in agricultural association and group meetings.
Potential learning activities can include:
- Enhancing animal science and agricultural lessons with hands-on components for 4-H and FFA members
- Setting up topic stations to quiz youth about their respective animal species projects
- Introducing agricultural, companion animals, and related topics to youth in classroom and after-school program settings
- Creating interactive activities for members at various agricultural association/group meetings
- Using pieces of the curriculum to start conversations about agriculture and animal science at public events
